Reclaimed Timber & Oak Beams
Seasoned Timber with History
There is no substitute for genuine reclaimed timber. Oak beams that have been naturally seasoning for over a century are structurally superior to anything you can buy new — they are harder, more stable and will not twist, warp or shrink. And their rich, dark patina tells a story that new timber simply cannot.
At Mooney Demolition, we salvage timber from every demolition project we undertake. From massive oak beams out of Norfolk barns to wide pine floorboards from Victorian houses, our stock covers a wide range of species, sizes and applications.
Types of Reclaimed Timber
Oak Beams
Our most sought-after timber. Reclaimed oak beams come from barn conversions, farmhouse demolitions and industrial buildings across Norfolk. Naturally seasoned over decades, they are incredibly hard and stable — perfect for structural and decorative use.
We stock beams in a range of sizes from small lintels and mantels to large structural sections. Each beam has its own unique character — adze marks, peg holes, weathering and the deep honey-to-chocolate colour that only age can produce.
Floorboards
Reclaimed floorboards in pine, elm and oak. Wide boards from Georgian and Victorian properties are particularly popular — they give a room an immediate sense of age and quality that narrow modern boards cannot match.
Our floorboards are de-nailed and sorted by width and species. We can often supply enough matching boards to floor a room, hallway or entire house. Some boards retain original paint or stain, adding further character.
Structural Timber
Reclaimed softwood and hardwood structural timber suitable for building work. Roof timbers, joists, purlins, rafters and studwork salvaged from demolition projects. Often larger and better quality than modern equivalents.
Reclaimed structural timber is ideal for barn conversions, extensions and restoration work where you need to match existing timbers or meet conservation requirements. We can cut to size at the yard if needed.

Why Reclaimed Oak?
New green oak shrinks, twists and cracks as it dries over several years. Reclaimed oak has already completed this process naturally over decades or centuries, making it dimensionally stable and incredibly hard. It is ready to use immediately with no surprises.
Reclaimed oak also has a significantly lower carbon footprint than new timber. By reusing existing wood, you avoid the environmental cost of felling, processing and transporting new material.
